Marine Steel Plate & Sheet

About product

A marine steel plate and sheet is an essential component used in the construction of various types of ships and marine structures. This product is designed to withstand the demanding conditions of the marine environment and provide structural integrity and strength.

The shipbuilding steel plate is typically classified into different grades based on its strength and characteristics. The commonly used grade is A, B, D, or E. This grade has a similar yield strength (not less than 235N/mm2) and tensile strength (400-520N/mm2), with variations in its impact toughness at different temperatures. It is primarily utilized in the fabrication of ship hulls, decks, and other vital parts of vessels that navigate oceans, coasts, and inland waterways.

Product Detail

Marine Steel Plate Grade

Marine steel plates are available in two main categories: general grade and high-strength grade. These grades are designed to meet different strength and performance requirements in marine applications.

General Grade Of Shipbuilding Steel Plate

The general grades of shipbuilding steel plates, namely Grades A, B, D, and E, are distinguished based on their ability to withstand different impact temperatures. The impact values for all grades of steel are the same. Here is a breakdown of the impact force requirements for each grade:

  • Grade A steel: The impact force is tested at a normal temperature of 20°C.
  • Grade B steel: The impact force is tested at a temperature of 0°C.
  • Grade D steel: The impact force is tested at a temperature of -20°C.
  • Grade E steel: The impact force is tested at a temperature of -40°C.

These grades indicate the steel’s suitability for specific temperature conditions commonly encountered in marine environments. They help ensure the structural integrity and performance of the steel when subjected to different temperature extremes.

Regarding ship plate thickness, for plates with a thickness of ≤ 30mm, specific preheating procedures are recommended based on the ambient temperature. If the ambient temperature is below 5°C, the plate should be preheated to 75°C. Similarly, if the ambient temperature is below 0°C, the preheating temperature should be within the range of 75°C to 100°C. These preheating measures are necessary to ensure proper welding and maintain the desired structural properties of the marine steel plates in colder environments.

High-strength Grade Of Marine Steel Plate

High-strength grades of marine steel plates are crucial for the construction of robust and reliable structures in shipbuilding and offshore industries.  Here’re all high-strength grades for marine steel plates:

A32, D32, E32:

  • These grades are high-strength marine steel plates with a minimum yield strength of 315MPa.
  • They are primarily used in the construction of hull structures.

A36, D36, D40, E40:

  • These grades have a higher minimum yield strength of 355MPa.
  • They offer improved strength and are suitable for various marine applications, including shipbuilding and offshore platforms.

E36, EH36

  • These grades are high-strength marine steel plates with a minimum yield strength of 355MPa.
  • They provide excellent weldability and impact resistance, making them ideal for shipbuilding and offshore structures.
  • These grades are widely used in the construction of hulls and other critical components in marine environments.

FH36, FH40

  • These grades have a minimum yield strength of 355MPa and are specifically designed for high-strength applications in shipbuilding and offshore industries.
  • They offer superior strength and toughness properties, making them suitable for demanding marine environments.
  • These grades are often used in the construction of hull structures and offshore platforms.

The Material Grade Of Marine Steel Plate

We can supply a wide range of marine steel plate grades, including Q390, Q460, Q550, Q690, Q325B, and Q345, which find applications in various positions on ships. These steel grades are strategically utilized in different areas to ensure the structural integrity and performance of marine vessels.

Q390, Q460, Q550, and Q690 grades are commonly used in the construction of ship hulls, providing the necessary strength and toughness to withstand the harsh marine environment. These grades are also employed in critical components such as bulkheads, decks, and superstructures.

Q325B and Q345 grades, known for their good weldability and strength, are often utilized in structural elements such as frames, beams, and supports within the ship’s framework. These grades contribute to the overall stability and load-bearing capacity of the vessel.

By offering a diverse selection of marine steel plate grades, we can provide the appropriate materials for different positions on ships, ensuring optimal performance and safety in various marine applications.

Marine Steel Plate Specifications

Marine steel plates and sheets are available in a wide range of sizes to cater to different marine construction needs. The typical size specifications for the ship plates and sheets include:

  • Thickness: The thickness of the shipbuilding plates usually ranges from 5mm to 80mm. This range allows for selecting the appropriate plate thickness based on the specific structural requirements, load-bearing capacity, and design considerations of the marine project.
  • Width: The width of the ship plates commonly varies between 1500mm and 3900mm. This width range accommodates different vessel sizes and construction needs, providing flexibility in selecting the appropriate plate width for a particular marine application.
  • Length: Marine steel plates are typically available in lengths ranging from 3000mm to 12000mm. This length range offers versatility in meeting various project specifications and allows for efficient material utilization during construction.
