Product Detail

Marine API 600 Marine Gate Valves utilize a metal gate to control the flow of fluid by opening or closing the flow path. The gate can be either a flexible or solid wedge, depending on the design and application requirements.

The gate, whether flexible or solid, is seated at the bottom of the valve body when the valve is in the closed position. This seating at the bottom of the valve body ensures that the gate forms a reliable seal with the valve seats, preventing fluid from flowing through the valve when it is closed. The seal formed by the gate and seats helps to minimize leakage and ensure positive shut-off.

The flexible wedge design offers some flexibility to accommodate any potential misalignment or deformation of the valve seats. This flexibility allows the wedge to adjust and provide a tight seal against the valve seats, enhancing the sealing performance of the valve.

In contrast, the solid wedge design is rigid and non-flexible, providing a strong and durable seal against the valve seats. The solid wedge is commonly used in applications where precise machining of the valve seats and gate is achievable to ensure a tight and leak-free seal.
