Product Detail

5083 Marine Grade Aluminum Sheet & Plate Temper

Marine grade aluminum sheet made of 5083 is commonly available in various tempers to meet different requirements. The most frequently used temper for alloy 5083 is:

  • H116: This temper is specifically designed for marine applications. It undergoes a stabilization treatment and offers excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and good formability. It is widely used in boat hulls, shipbuilding, and other marine structures.

Another commonly used temper for 5083 marine grade aluminum sheet is:

  • H321: This temper provides stabilized properties and improved stress corrosion resistance. It is typically used in applications where enhanced corrosion resistance is required, such as in marine environments and offshore structures.

In addition, alloy 5083 can also be found in the following temper:

  • O (Annealed): This temper represents the softest condition of the aluminum. It offers excellent workability and formability, primarily used in applications where strength is not the primary concern.

Different Of Aluminum Plate & Aluminum Sheet

In marine use, the key difference between 5083 aluminum plate and aluminum sheet lies in their thickness, strength, and specific application:

5083 Aluminum Plate in Marine Use:

  • Thickness: It is typically available in a thicker gauge, exceeding 6mm. The increased thickness provides the necessary structural integrity and strength required for heavy-duty marine applications.
  • Strength: the aluminum plate offers high strength and excellent corrosion resistance, making it well-suited for marine environments. It can withstand the harsh conditions of saltwater exposure, making it suitable for boat hulls, shipbuilding, and offshore structures.
  • Application: 5083 aluminum plate is commonly used in marine applications that require superior durability, such as boat hulls, superstructures, decks, and other structural components. Its high strength and corrosion resistance properties make it ideal for withstanding the rigors of marine environments.

5083 Aluminum Sheet in Marine Use:

  • Thickness: This marine grade aluminum sheet is typically defined as having a thickness of 6mm or less.
  • Strength: The aluminum sheet offers a good strength-to-weight ratio but is generally not as strong as aluminum plate. However, it still provides sufficient strength for lightweight marine applications.
  • Application: 5083 aluminum sheet in marine use is typically employed for non-structural applications, such as marine equipment, cabinetry, panels, and decorative elements. It is suitable for projects that require corrosion-resistant materials but do not necessarily require the same level of strength as aluminum plates.
