Product Detail

6061 Aluminum Rod For Ship Hull

The 6061 aluminum rod’s excellent machinability and weldability allow for easy fabrication and integration into the shipbuilding process. It can be precisely shaped, drilled, and welded to meet the specific requirements of the ship hull design. This versatility enables efficient customization and contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the shipbuilding project.

In addition to its mechanical properties, the 6061 aluminum rod offers inherent buoyancy, which is crucial for ship hulls. This buoyancy helps to maintain stability and ensures that the vessel remains afloat even in challenging maritime environments.

Recommended Temper Of 6061 Aluminum Round Bar

For marine applications, both T6 and T651 temper conditions are commonly recommended for 6061 Aluminum Round Bar.

T6 temper involves solution heat treatment and artificial aging, which results in high strength and hardness. It offers excellent mechanical properties and good resistance to corrosion. The 6061 T6 aluminum rod is well-suited for shipbuilding applications where strength and durability are critical.

T651 temper, on the other hand, includes the same solution heat treatment as T6, followed by additional stretching to relieve residual stress. This temper condition provides improved dimensional stability and reduced risk of distortion during machining or fabrication processes. The T651 aluminum round bar retains the high strength and corrosion resistance of T6, making it suitable for marine environments.
