Marine Zinc Ribbon Anode

Category

About product

The marine zinc ribbon anode serves as a sacrificial anode, employed to mitigate corrosion in marine environments. They are composed of a thin, wire-like strip of zinc metal extruded around a central galvanized steel wire core. The steel wire core ensures electrical path continuity and provides structural support to the sacrificial anode.

Our zinc ribbon anode is designed to withstand the harsh conditions of saltwater environments. They are typically constructed with durable materials to resist corrosion and maintain their integrity over time. The zinc outer shell provides a large surface area for effective corrosion protection, ensuring a longer lifespan for the sacrificial anode.

Marine Zinc Ribbon Anode  – Cathodic Protection

Marine Zinc Ribbon Anode is a type of sacrificial anode used for cathodic protection in underground piping systems. The zinc outer shell of the ribbon anode is the sacrificial element that corrodes preferentially to protect the metal structures in contact with seawater. When connected to the structure to be protected, the zinc ribbon anode forms an electrical circuit where it acts as the anode and the structure acts as the cathode. This arrangement facilitates the flow of electrical current and directs corrosion to the sacrificial anode instead of the protected metal.

Marine Sacrificial Zinc Ribbon Anode Applications

Marine zinc ribbon anodes have several specific applications in marine environments, including:

  • Protection of high resistivity environments: Sacrificial zinc ribbon anodes are effective in providing cathodic protection in areas with high resistivity soils and water. These environments typically pose challenges for conventional cathodic protection methods, making zinc ribbon anodes a suitable solution.
  • Narrow space or confined situations: Due to its flexible and customizable nature, this sacrificial anode is ideal for use in narrow spaces or confined situations. They can be easily wrapped or wound around structures that require corrosion protection, such as pipelines, casings, or storage tanks.
  • Submarine Pipeline Protection: Submarine pipelines are susceptible to corrosion due to the harsh marine environment they are exposed to, including seawater, currents, and varying soil conditions. Cathodic protection is crucial to prevent corrosion and maintain the integrity of the pipeline.
  • Pipeline temporary cathodic protection: During the construction or maintenance of underwater pipelines, temporary cathodic protection may be required. Sacrificial zinc anode can be utilized as sacrificial anodes to provide temporary corrosion protection until a permanent cathodic protection system is established.
  • Storage tank and pipeline protection: The sacrificial anode employed to protect storage tanks and pipelines in marine environments. They help prevent corrosion on the submerged surfaces of these structures, extending their lifespan and reducing the need for maintenance and repairs.
  • Anti-electromagnetic interference of grounding grids: Boat zinc ribbon anodes can also be used to mitigate electromagnetic interference in grounding grids. By providing a sacrificial element in the grounding system, they help reduce electrical potential differences and dissipate stray currents, minimizing the impact of electromagnetic interference.
